てらこや【寺子屋】
(1)江戸時代の庶民のための初等教育機関。 武士・僧侶・医者・神職などが師となり, 手習い・読み方・そろばんなどを教えた。 寺。 寺屋。
(2)浄瑠璃「菅原伝授手習鑑(テナライカガミ)」の四段目の通称。 寺子屋を開きながら菅原道真の子菅秀才をかくまう武部源蔵夫婦と, 自分の子を秀才の身代わりにする松王丸夫婦の悲劇。
